Where I’ve Been

A picture is worth 1000 words:

I completed my first triathlon.

And I went on my first Mountain Bike Ride.  And fell.

This is my arm.  I actually fell on my handle bars which bent vertical.  The real injury, which required minor surgery, can only be viewed by medical personnel, my husband, and Kelli Butenko. (Luckily I was riding with an EMT.)

I’m sticking to road bikes for a little while. (Because it’s really hard to ride a mountain bike whose handlebars are vertical.) And I’ll be resting for a few more weeks.  Then I’m sure I’ll look back at all of this and LAUGH.

  1. OW! I’m sorry to hear about this, Marianne, especially anywhere in the vicinity of “… which required minor surgery“. I sincerely hope you recover quickly. You didn’t to this in my neck of the woods, did you? Take care.

    • This took place in the beautiful mountains of Montana. There was a really nice stream nearby. I didn’t really enjoy the view, though.

  2. Wow, no words.

Oh my goodness! Marianne, that looks so painful! I’m so sorry that your first triathlon turned out this way. I hope the ‘minor surgery’ was minor indeed. At least you were giving it your all. Take care of yourself. We’ll all be here when you get back.

EEK! Minor surgery is never good.
But…YAY for your first triathlon!! Are you hooked now??

  5. Kelli Butenko

Thanks for the shout-out. I’ve now seen more of you than I have of any of my girlfriends since high school gym class.

  6. At least it wasn’t worse!

    Congrats on your first triathlon!!

  7. Ohhhh…. no! I hope, though, that you don’t get discouraged, that when you are healthy again you get back on that mountain bike and show that darn mountain who’s boss.

  8. Congrats on finishing your first triathlon! What a huge accomplishment! I hope you’re starting to heal some from your post-triathlon injuries.

  9. Wow, that is a bruise of honor! Congrats!!!
